SACHI'S FIRST STEPS!
Amazingly caught on video with pops' camera phone, Sachi takes her first step to the enthusiastic cheers of Momma. Needless to say, we were excited:

Summertime Baby!
So with the warm weather, the Circus had to recruit some associate members, in case the tour schedule starts to pick up. With Paipi guarding the homeland, Sachi braved the summer heat to find additional potential members of the Circus troupe. In locating potential members, Sachan had a virtual whose who of options:
Cow:
Alpaca:
Goat:
Morbidly obese rabbit:
With none of the potentials drafted, the family headed home to see Paipi...
Once home, lounging ensued...
...as did a little tussle over Paipi's rawhide. Paipi apparently doesn't take kindly to someone trying to snatch his treats. Paipi 1 - Sachi 0.

Days of May
Well, Cleveland has been soaked this spring, which has relegated the circus to only part-time outside. The region has gotten almost triple the annual average of rain (over 6" so far in May!), so we've only been able to minimally catch Sachi and Paipi in action in the great outdoors. That said, naps are a ritual during the weekend, so Days of May includes plenty o' photos of everyone (including the old man) passed out around the house. Enjoy!
Sachi's first foray into Cleveland's grasslands weren't met with much excitement. Things started off well, but tears were quickly in order:

And after a tough day...
second one out
Given the rain, the two typically hang out on the back deck - Sachi with book in hand and Paipi playing lookout for squirrels and birds (check out his point of view), although he can't get off the deck
I hate swimming:
Another tough day

April and May Musings
Springtime is here in Cleveland. The cherry blossoms have sprouted, potholes are in fashion and the Circus is in full swing. Sachi witnessed her first "adults only" moment, courtesy of the new Royal Couple. She was up with her mom watching Will and Kate make out on a balcony, while pops and the pup stayed in bed. The family took a trip out to the local metroparks to enjoy the Japanese cherry blossoms, complete with the obligatory family photo. Photos of Sachi's porky little fingers and Pops and babe having a big ol' time included! Given that the sun is barely peaking out, Sachi took some hard-earned cash from her piggy bank and made a spontaneous investment in the straw fedora market. Check out Sachi's sweet hair with her Anpanman (Japanese superhero whose head is made out of bread...don't ask) bib. Thank you Auntie Tama-chan and Uncle Rei-kun. Lastly, the odd couple plays together with Sachi shrieking as Paipi tears teddy to shreds! Enjoy:

Springtime is Almost Here
While you wouldn't be able to tell by the tempeatures hovering in the 40s in Cleveland (4-9 degrees Celsius), Sachi and Paipi are gearing up for warm weather. Here's a recap of the last month:
Sachi is now standing! First is was sitting up, then crawling, but now, she is standing:

Revenge of the Pup! While Sachi talks to her grandparents online from Japan (check out the computer screen, you can see Jichan and Baachan on Skype), Paipi, after months of abuse, decided to take his rage out on Sachi's Pack n' Play. The result? Custom-made entry/exit vents for means of escape (you can' see it from the photo, but he ate through both the back and the front). Translation: $180 down the drain.
In other news, Sachi is super interested in books and can often be found giving reading a try. Always up for a challenge, she is apparently also honing her ability at reading books upside down (a skill commonly associated with presidents!)

And finally, in what will likely be a long line of embarrassing stunts done at Sachi's expense by mommy and daddy, we present Sachi with a Butt-Cut and Sachi with Blueberries:

Attack of the Crawling Sachi!
March 28, 2011
Beachwood, Ohio
Although reports are still sketchy, media outlets in this 30 degree suburb of Cleveland have warned residential pets to be on the lookout for a 1/2 Japanese, 1/2 Indian infant girl, who has been on a rampage of terror against the food bowls of short, stubby-legged dogs, particularly those with limited intellect and unassuming dispositions. This "Sachi" has been known to attack unwitting suspects while they are preoccupied with lunch and/or dinner by approaching during mealtime, taking control of the food bowl and dumping the contents on the ground, simply for her own satisfaction. Residents are advised to use extreme caution if cornered by this menace, as her infant wiles have been known to be both disarming and deadly. Crawling Sachi is a relatively new phenomenon (crawling forwards for only a couple of days) and this footage represents one of the first times her forward-moving attacks have been captured on tape, albeit on a poorly equipped camera phone, which apparently is lacking good audio (thanks Sprint). Check out the assault on local resident, Paipi and his food bowl, with recorded encouragement from individuals that were not caught on camera. Residents are further advised to stay indoors and stay well-stocked with mum-mums (baby treats) and Cheerios, as these easily digested dietary weapons have proven to help distract attacking Sachi from innocent foodbowls. Resident pets are advised to eat quickly and move to higher ground, which would potentially remove them from attack range. Save yourselves!

Sachi Goes to Boston with 106B PA
After a relatively quiet March, Sachi shipped Paipi off to prison camp (aka: Cleveland's Mutt Hutt), packed her wares and made her first trip to New England to attend the first family 106B Partners Association Convention. For those not in the know, Sachi's pops lived at apartment number 106B while at Chapel Hill and the house members along with three others have since formed the 106B Partners Association. The trip featured a beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean, lots of aunts and uncles, a trip to Harvard (aka: "Haa'vad") and a happy welcome home. Let's go!
Sachi gives her pal some preparation in terms of abuse he should expect during his incarceration.
Packing for the big trip
Pops tries to make Sachi look like a burrito
Check out the sweet view from the 106B lodging in Nahant, MA:
Sachi's first foray to the lovely beaches of Boston. Unfortunately, the parents didn't bother packing her bathing suit, probably b/c it was about 40 degrees outside.
Uncle Ahad!
Uncle Gene (He looks like Garden Yeti from the in-flight magazine!)

106B Uncles (Uncle Burr, Uncle Drock, UncleYeti Gene and Uncle Nilps). What a bunch of charmers.
Ol' John Harvard. Sachi will see him in about 18 years, but she seems to be getting in some good practice on sleeping in front of the professor.
Sachi comes home and is shown love by her first mate.
