Sachi Turns One!

So the blog is a little late in providing updates, but if you're weren't there in person, here's what our little Sachi did in celebrating her 365th day strolling this fine Earth.  True to form, Mom and Pops whipped together some last minute plans to outline the day's events.  It got emailed out to folks at about 12:23AM the day of, and afterwards, the Ozas put that plan to action.  What a day!

For whatever reason, the blog won't accept PDFs loaded as files, so the itinerary is broken up according to what we did during the day.

Itinerary intro:

SACHI’S INDEPENDENCE DAY BIRTHDAY ITINERARY

Planning has never been an Oza family strength, so in perfect tradition of our little Sachi’s 1st birthday, Paipi’s 5th birthday and America’s 235th birthday, the Ozas have whipped together a birthday itinerary that outlines our happenings for this exciting July 4, 2011.  Feel free to join us at any of these mentioned pit stops if you’d like.  If you can’t make it, no big deal...we love you anyways.

If you do think that you’ll want to join up for any or all excursions, call or email rishi and let him know that you’re coming and we’ll find a place to meet.  Oh yeah, seeing that this is being thrust upon all of you at the 11th hour, don’t go out and try to find anything for a gift.  Sachi is more than happy with the gift of your time.

Once the itinerary was set, we were off.  Here's a breakdown of what we did:

Time:  6:00AM
Location:  Oza Residence
Sachi wakes up.  Paipi and Pops try to sleep in for another hour and fail miserably.

Time:  7:00AM – 9:30AM
Location:  Oza Residence (living room floor)
Skyping with Baachan and Jichan Takemoto in Sasebo, Japan, followed by contact with Dighe family in Washington, DC and Desais in Charlotte, NC.  Call to Nana and Nani Oza as well.  Birthday breakfast, birthday cake and Paipi ice cream.

Birthday outfit!

Time:  9:45AM – 10:15AM
Location:  Beachwood (Richmond Rd.)
Birthday walk with Paipi to Beachwood City Park

Time:  10:15AM – 11:00AM (hopefully)
Location:  Sachi’s room
1st birthday nap

Time:  11:30AM – 2:00PM
Location:  Cleveland Zoo
Red, white and zoo!  Sachi will be cruising around looking for a temporary substitute for Paipi.  Lunch at the Zoo.

Elsie came to the Zoo too!

Time:  3:30 – 5:00
Location:  Beachwood Family Aquatic Center
1st birthday swim!  Ozas will head to the Beachwood Aquatic Center (25125 Fairmount Blvd.) for some fun in the sun.  Its only $10 to get in, so get that bathing suit on and join up.

Time:  6:00 – 8:00
Location:  Oza Residence
Playtime with Paipi and winding down at the Oza house.  Sachi eats dinner, reads a story and goes to bed.  Hopefully, we’ll get some fireworks that we can watch!

All in all, what a great day.  Next year, we'll be sure to give more advance notice.

Anu Gets Married!

The action packed June schedule took our little Sachi westward to Cleveland's big brother of the mid-west, Chicago, IL for the wedding of long-time Oza family alum, Anita ("Anu") Oza and new inductee, Wayde Nagamine.  We won't digress into the romantic backstory, but Anu and Wayde tide the nupitals' knot on Saturday, June 25, with little Sachi afoot for the entire wedding weekend.  Per the usual, Paipi spent the weekend at Cleveland's Mutt Hutt (http://www.themutthutt.com/), watching his backside, while the rest of the fam whooped it up with grandparents, aunts, uncles (including Keshav Uncle...straight out of London!) and cousins.  Good times all around!

Sachi wore some awesome Indian gear, thanks to Auntie Dina coming through in the clutch!

Father's Day and Swimming

So the blog has been out of commission for a couple of weeks, so we're playing catch-up.  Father's Day was an eventful encounter in the Oza household, with Pops and Sachi following the parent tradition of matching outfits.  What else says Father's Day like matching navy blue polos and shorts?

Sachi has also taken up the tradition of avoiding entering the kiddie pool willingly and instead, in her clumsiness, choosing to fall into it.  The proof?  Matted down and soaked hair.  Donning a sporty racer-back swimsuit, Sachi is making a "splash" on the local pool scene (pun entirely intended).
